Alchemy in WoW Forever: leveling route and where the gold is

Alchemy got a whole new potion line, flasks and a camp laboratory in Forever. Here's the route the data gives us, what it costs in mats, and which herbs to stockpile.

Alchemy has always been the profession goblins pick when they don't want to think about gear. Consumables get used up, so people come back and buy them again every raid night. Forever keeps that, and then shuffles the furniture around in a way that matters for your wallet.

The headline: the classic healing potion line now sits under First Aid in the game data, and alchemists get their own Discolored healing potions instead. If that holds at launch, you're no longer the only one making heals. Plan for it.

What's new in Forever

72 of the 197 recipes are new. Most of them are elixirs (29) and potions (24), topped off by four Flasks of Natural something at skill 313, which is past the old 300 cap. Those are endgame and we can't see their items in the data yet, so don't bank on them for launch month.

The more interesting additions are lower down. Dyes are now alchemy reagents (Cerulean, Magenta, Viridian), and the leveling route leans on Cerulean Dye hard. You also get three camp pieces: a Mana Well at 17 that gives everyone sitting at your fire mana regen, a Fermenter at 137 that makes certain reagents, and an Alchemy Laboratory at 300 that some recipes require.

This is the full list for the route below. The vials are the boring part; the herbs and the Murloc Eyes are where the competition will be. Frilled Lichen is a new Forever item and we don't have a source for it yet, so price-check it before you commit to the dye stretch.

Skill route

The data starts at 7 and stops at 285, with a couple of holes on the way. Cerulean Dye carries you from 22 to 70 in one long, cheap block. After that it's healing potions from the new Discolored line, Lesser Invisibility, and the two Detect draughts to finish.

Making gold while you level

Sell the Discolored potions you make on the way up. You're crafting 115 healing potions between 70 and 215, and every one of them is a consumable somebody at that level will drink. Post small stacks in the evening and let the rest sit in your bank.

Murloc Eyes are your bottleneck, so they're someone else's payday. The route eats 115 of them. If you're not an alchemist, farm murlocs in the 20s and sell the eyes in launch week while every new alchemist hits the same wall.

Don't race the First Aid crowd on plain healing potions. If the data is right and First Aid makes them now, that market will be crowded with people who only need skill-ups. Your edge is elixirs and flasks they can't make.
